Treatment for an Eating Disorder: Pt 7 The World Needs More Love!

11/3/17 10:35 AM

It’s such a beautiful morning and the mountains are so beautiful. The sun is shining, and the clouds are a misty light gray left from a light rain shower. The leaves have changed and are slowly still falling. I love fall, it is my favorite time of year. We are getting closer to the first snow fall. It’s chilly outside, but I can’t help thinking about sitting on my porch, looking over the city with a hot cup of coffee in my hands. For now, I sit with no coffee, next to one of my favorite care techs and a good friend that I have made here at the center.

Feeling Important

My therapist just came to check on me. He made sure that I was applying to phase up today. That made me feel important. He has been one of the biggest supporters in my recovery. He really cares for his patients. You can tell because he makes you feel like you are a priority to him. He made treatment possible for me.

Prayer’s To god in TREATMENT

I need to focus while I’m in the center. I miss the outside world, but I know I need to excel and work hard here.

My nerves are everywhere today, but I feel hopeful. God give me confidence as I stand in front of my treatment team today asking to advance to the next phase program. Give me my words.

In the rest of my stay, I pray you help me find my voice. Help me to invest time with individuals. I want to be helpful and shine your light. I want to know what it is like to have real relationships with people.

9/30/18

It’s been a little over a year since the words above have been written. I sit in a completely different place than I was when I wrote those words. Today, I sit in my own kitchen as opposed to the Center for Change. However, I have some similar feelings and struggles as last year. Anniversary dates seem to bring some hardship and unsettling feelings. The difference this year is that I am stronger than I have ever been. First and foremost, I have Jesus Christ, my rock. I have a loving and supportive husband who, no matter what, chooses to love me and stick by me. I also have family and friends that can put a smile on my face even when the days are hard.

Pastor Speaking To You?

Have you ever been sitting in church just minding your own business, listening along, and all of a sudden you realize that the pastor is literally speaking directly to you? Okay okay, well he isn’t talking directly to you but it sure feels like he is. Well that happened to me today. You may be thinking, “how does this even relate to this post?” Well, let me tell you..

People who get love right, get life right – Troy Champ

If I would have heard this statement before today I probably wouldn’t believe it, but today I was convicted. With love we can make even the hardest situations brighter.

The moment I introduced love and the ability to love others into my life, my heart started to soften and I really started living a life fulfilled. Without love I didn’t treat others like they were human beings, I didn’t treat others like they were children of God, and I certainly didn’t treat myself with any love what so ever. How can you respect and love other people if you don’t even have respect and love for yourself? We are ALL created in God’s Image, so every person, no matter who they are, is worthy of love.

Compassion is an indispensable quality of love – Mr. Rogers

I think we have to have understand and have compassion to know how to love people, especially those people that are hard to love. And how we choose to react will reflect the way people see us and who we represent. If we are really followers of God, we need to show love and remove as much evil as we can from situations.

If we respond cruelty with cruelty we keep evil in circulation.
– Troy Champ

Here are some verses to meditate on throughout the week

Colossians 3:12

“God has chosen you and made you his holy people. He loves you. So your new life should be like this: Show mercy to others. Be kind, humble, gentle, and patient.”

Colossians 3:13

“Don’t be angry with each other, but forgive each other. If you feel someone has wronged you, forgive them. Forgive others because the Lord forgave you.”

colossians 3:14

“Together with these things, the most important part of your new life is to love each other. Love is what holds everything together in perfect unity.”

Colossians 3:15

“Let the peace that Christ gives control your thinking. It is for peace that you were chosen to be together in one body. And always be thankful.”
